AUDITION – the Role of Fitz

The Mental Notion Society presents
Tetrazzini’s Last Hurrah
Written by Jason Sebacher.  Directed / Produced by Jonald Jude Reyes.

 

Synopsis:  Fitz and Teddy–two estranged brothers–meet by chance while traveling to New York City to attend the last concert of a dying opera singer. How will these squabbling siblings manage to cut their way through the brambles, traps, and fearsome beasts of the urban jungle? How, indeed.  Tetrazzini’s Last Hurrah is an 80-min comedic play that addresses issues such as politics, sex, and family.

 

 
The Mental Notion Society seeks one male actor to play the role of Fitz.  Age range from late 20′s to early 30′s.  Candidates should be a bit husky or of larger physique yet still agile w/the ability for minimal physical comedic bits.  Candidates should have a strong theatrical background (2-3+ yrs) with some improvisational training/experience (1-2+ yrs).

 

 

One Audition Date:  Saturday, March 30th, 2013 – between 1 – 4pm

Time Commitment: 1 to 2 rehearsals per week starting the week of April 8th. Tetrazzini will be performed every Saturday at 7pm, from May 11th thru May 25th, 2013 (3 performances) at the Underground Lounge – 952 W. Newport Ave., Chicago, IL 60657.  Rehearsals will be approximately 2-3 hours each.  No compensation as the shows will be free itself – this one’s for the love of the art!

 

 

Audition Prep:

Audition is based on 3 factors:  1.  a 1-3 minute contemporary monologue ; 2. cold read &  3. short improvised scene work.  Please bring a headshot and resume to the audition.  You will NOT be accepted without these.  To audition, pls sign up at the following link:

AUDITION NOTICE: Ale Obsession [shortfilm]

 

 

The Mental Notion Society with Second Level Productions present
“Ale Obsession” (short film, 2013)
Written by Bryna Berezowska & Julie Chereson ; Music Composed by Bella Seris ; Directed by Jonald Jude Reyes

 

Synopsis:  Ara, a successful musician/songwriter, attributes her success to her lucky charm – an extremely rare craft beer! “Ale Obsession” follows the rise & fall of Ara’s music career and the relationships with the people involved.

 

The Mental Notion Society seeks 2 male roles.  Non-Equity.  Compensation: None, but will receive on-screen film experience, networking opportunity with active actors & producers, and participate in support of a film festival run.

 

Type/Restrictions:

 

Chet (early 30s to early 40s): Ara’s agent.  A charismatic business man with a strong personality.  Good orator.  Versatile knowledge of music is a plus but not required.

 

Scott (mid 20s to mid 30s): Ara’s lover, and extremely charming, attractive, likable man.  The character has an extensive beer collection, and is an avid beer trader/collector.  Beer knowledge (of crafting, brews/brands) is a plus, but not required.

 

Audition Date: Monday, January 14th, 2013 – between 6 to 9pm

Time Commitment: Shooting schedule shall begin on January 19th and wrap-up late February.  Approximately a 10-14 day shoot (non-consecutive).  1 or 2 rehearsals prior to shoot.  Shooting timeline for each role (Chet or Scott) comprises of a total of 2 to 3 nights.

AUDITION: Burlesque Performers for FIGHT CLUB

 

The MENTAL NOTION SOCIETY (MNS) and PLAN 9 BURLESQUE present

 

FIGHT CLUB: A Project Mayhem Burlesque

 

 

Written and Directed by Jonald Jude Reyes [ jonaldjude.com ].
Choreography by Stella Cheeks.

 

SYNOPSIS:  In parody to the Chuck Palahniuk novel & David Fincher movie, an insomniac crosses paths with a soap-maker who widens his eyes to what’s important to life.  In doing so, the duo create an underground fighting club which ultimately grows into city mass mischief.

 

MNS/PLAN9 seek burlesque performers.  Dance/movement/burlesque training and acting experiences are a plus. Performers must be comfortable and confident with their bodies as revealing to pasties and possibly g-string is required. Only women 21 & over are able to audition.  Performers shall be compensated.

 

ONE AUDITION DATE ONLY:

- Sunday, December 16th, 2012 – 10am to 2pm
- CALLBACKS ARE SAME DAY – 3pm to 5pm

TIME COMMITTMENT:

2 to 3 rehearsals per week starting the week of December 17th. We acknowledge the upcoming holidays, so ensure your commitment if plans will keep you out of action for a long period of time.  Fight Club shall be set at a 6-week run – shows shall be performed every Thursday at 8:00pm, March 7th to April 11th, 2013. Location: Pub Theater (3220 N. Lincoln Ave.).

AUDITION PREP:

Audition will consist of 3 elements:  1. group choreography 2. solo monologue and 3. cold read scene.  FYI – You will be auditioning with a group and learn group number at audition.  Have prepared a 1-3 minute contemporary monologue (dramatic/comedic).  A plus, but not requirement, is stage combat.  Performers must be able to make all performance dates.

Please bring a Headshot / Resume to the audition.  Also make sure you’re available for Callback if selected.

Sir Jove returns

 

After a small break between meetings, Sir Jove returns to make his impact.  Business of “The Other” (the rock opera) has brought out the still yearning need to assemble the Chicago style of the UR2 Graffiti Bombers.  The Mental Notion Society has put out an APB for interested musicians to lay inquiry in joining the r(evolution).  AUDITION NOTICE as follows:

Sir Jove, the Composer of “THE OTHER,” seeks 1 GUITAR player ; 1 BASS player ; and 1 DRUMmer.  Candidate of any position should have a good range of music genre experience, appreciation, and delivery – from jazz to punk, to classic to hip hop, etc. etc. and be open to the power of ‘sounds.’  We are looking for people with a good sense of imagination and the acceptance of looking outside the box.  Candidate shall be available at least twice to three times a week for practice and available for performances, which shall include venue (bars/cafes/event) gigs, and the process of the performance art piece (said stage production).
